20 Questions To Bettie Page in February 2007 Playboy

Most people aren't aware that Bettie Page was this icon's real name. Born Bettie Mae Page in 1923 came from humble beginnings that included time in an orphanage after her parents were divorced when young Bettie was only ten years old. She became a good student and strong debate team member and only missed earning the title of school valedictorian and a scholarship to Vanderbilt University by a quarter of a grade point.

In the mid-1950's Page found early success modeling for camera clubs. Then later for commercial redistribution. She learned of this line of work through a chance encounter in 1950 with Jerry Tibbs on a deserted beach at Coney Island. Tibbs also suggested her trademark hairstyle of bangs.

Betties' early work was mostly nude as the photos weren't supposed to be published as they were taken within the confines of the camera club. Then the changeover happened for better and she posed for photographer Irving Klaw for mail-order photographs with a Pin-up.

Bunny Yeager sent shots of Bettie Page to Playboy founder Hugh Hefner and Bettie didn't go unnoticed by Playboy either and as she became an icon she featured in numerous issues of Playboy Magazine over the years. She was featured as Playmate of the Month and centerfold for Playboy magazine in its January 1955 issue. Bettie also became one of Hefner's obsessions. When Page was almost forced to file for bankruptcy, few people know that it was Hefner who bailed her out.

Bettie is in her early 80's now and makes few public appearances. Before the February 2007 appearance, she last appeared in the 2003 issue of Playboy in a group photo with Hef and the famed painter Olivia. Age had made those famous bangs salt and pepper but Bettie had lost none of her beauty and charm.

A Playboy Valentine's Day

Sometimes it can be daunting to find a Valentine's gift, especially if your Valentine happens to be someone that has everything. If your Valentine enjoys reading Playboy Magazine, you can make a sweet treat that will be a lot of fun to open and make them a Playboy Magazine Valentine's Basket.

First of all, you will need a large basket, You can make your basket as naughty or as nice as you want. Put fun items such as chocolate and strawberries (carefully wrapped), feather for tickling, a mask for playing "Guess Who"; and maybe some sinfully good chocolates. Then add in five to ten Playboy Magazines.

If your Valentine hasn't considered collecting Playboy Magazines up to this point, this would be a great start. You can give your Valentine Playboy's with a particular theme such as a favorite actress like Pamela Anderson or Jenna McCarthy. Other themes might be icons such as Bettie Page or Marilyn Monroe who both appeared in the earliest issues of the magazine and in its pages throughout the years. For an utterly romantic twist, order a Playboy from particular months and years. Such as when you met, first date, engagement, month of your marriage or get a Playboy from each Valentine's issue for the past several years.

Finding the perfect Valentine's gift can feel overwhelming sometimes as you want to get a great gift, and it's got to be more than a simple card and chocolate to show how special the other person is to you. No matter how you choose to build your own Valentine's Basket, this will be one of the best Valentine's presents they've gotten in years!
