The Hottest Playboy Issue Ever

The most hotly collected Playboy issue that is richly sought after is the very first issue from December 1953 with none other than Marilyn Monroe on the cover and inside as the first Playmate of the Month. Hefner had borrowed money from everyone included his mother to put out the first issue which doesn't even have a volume or series number as Hefner was unsure at the time he would be able to fund another issue of the magazine.

Monroe was already an established star of the screen by 1953 so the photos published by Hefner made the sales of the magazine's first issue wildly popular and easily funded future issues. What many people aren't aware of is that Marilyn didn't pose for the first issue of Playboy.

The photographs that Hefner purchased came from a time when Marilyn was a struggling model and did some nude yet artfully tasteful shots for a pin up calendar and assumed the photos would never see the light of day again. Instead of destroying her career as one would have thought in the prime and proper times of the early 1950s, the photos only served to make Monroe's legend even greater and enhanced her already legendary sex appeal.

If you're looking for a copy of the 1953 issue, be aware it is jewel in the crown of every Playboy collector but issues do become available. Check the 1950s page often to see if one has been added and also estate sales and garage sales are often places people find copies of this coveted issue being sold by individuals who don't know the true value of this particular issue.

Playboy Magazine Celebrates their 4th Year in Mexico

October 2006 brought a special celebration to Mexico. Playboy Magazine celebrated its fourth anniversary of their magazine in this fair city. If you're already a collector of foreign editions of Playboy, you know that the Mexican edition has been out for years, however the offices weren't opened until October 2002.

The actress Lourdes Munguia who has in fact graced a number of covers of the foreign editions of Playboy was on hand to help celebrate the fourth birthday of the magazine in Mexico City. Monica Maristain is the editor of Playboy Mexico and she was also on hand for a press conference with black clad Playboy Bunnies on each side of the press table.

If you're looking to start or just fill in your collection of Playboys with some issues from foreign editions of the magazine, a great place to begin is with the 1997 Mexican issue that includes Maria Checa. There is also a special edition that includes Playmates from around the globe in a huge number of foreign editions of Playboy.

Playboy has broken ground in Mexico by establishing an office in what can be considered a very historically conservative country. The Mexican editions carry the staples of the Playboy magazine besides outstanding pictorials. The wildly popular twenty questions is presented as "20 Preguntas" and also reviews on stereo equipment, cars and other items along with cooking, eating and living well are also featured.

If you're interested in expanding your current Playboy collection, consider adding in some interesting foreign editions of the magazine.
