The Mystery of Marlene Morrow
If you like to collect Playboy issues that have a Playmate with an interesting life story to tell. Add April 1974 as the starting point to your collection as it has the incredibly beautiful Marlene Marlow and her story is unfolding as you read this.
Marlene was discovered by Playboy when she was living in London and working as a model. The blonde, willowy beauty only appeared once as a Playmate but the impact of her beauty both inside and out affected everyone who came in contact with her. Marlene dated Todd Rundgren who was so taken with her that he wrote a song for her titled "Marlene" that appears on his "Something/Anything" album. Marlene also appears in a
number of Playboy publications such as Playboy's Playmates, The World's Most Beautiful Women, Book of Lingerie from March 1999, Playboy Holiday Anniversary Issue, and Playboy Pocket Playmates 1976.
The last person to come in contact with Marlene was Paul Zollo when he was strolling the streets of Hollywood and taking shots of the people he met. One of the people he encountered was the now brunette Marlene Morrow who still has the same radiant smile and a despite being 52-years of age and obviously falling on hard times, it didn't show in her face. Zollo didn't know who she was at the time but spoke to her at length and found out she was living on the streets and "had been waiting on her husband" who hadn't shown up and she "had all kinds of contracts piling up".
Marlene told him that her name was Persephone(after the Goddess) and gave Zollo a little journal to read that had some poetry she had written within. Then she showed him an old and worn centerfold of herself from the Playboy 1974 she appeared in. Later when he looked up the information, he was astounded he really encountered Marlene Morrow and not some street person clinging to the delusion she was once a Playboy model. Other than the now brunette hair and aging gracefully, the face and body was nearly identical.
At the time of this writing, Marlene is still on the streets of Los Angeles and may be in danger. If you see or come into contact with Marlene Morrow, please contact us so we may pass on the information to the loved ones that want to help her.
